Well im 15 (16 in 2 months) and my dad is getting me my smart for my first car (dads are the best ). Im on the reservation list for my baby and the delivery date really isnt that far off (october 2009 - december 2009) but im getting very anxious because ive been waiting about 7 months now. ( i know its not that long but im impatient)
I was wondering if anyone has gotten a smart from the orphan list and if they have about how long did they wait?
Also, are you allowed to be picky and say that you want a specific color and wait till one that color is abandoned?
Welcome!
Each Dealership has a different way to handle its own list, there is no general list. So, you better check with the Dealer that has been assigned to deliver your future car.
I got a smart passion - not the color I wanted, or equipped the way I wanted - but the wait was over. I just kept calling the sales manager every couple of weeks. He finally had two orphans come in, and I got my pick - or not - up to me. I settled on a red/black/red because I didn't want the leather seats the other had. From reservation to finish was only 4 months, only about two weeks once he found the orphan. I got mine from smart center Clearwater.
Orphans are more and more available. Their are amny places with plenty on the lot these days but you get what they have. If you are willing to wait then you should be able to get something very close to what you ordered faster than waiting to get one built for you.
BUt since you need to wait until your 16 anyway you should just wait and get what you want anyway.
Have fun with it and take the time here to learn all you can while you wait.
i just got my ophan this past week with 160 miles on her,,,,,,,,,,,,,i have never been any happier! also you can try CARMAX. i would check out ebay though first. sometimes dads can haggle a price!
My insurance is going to be pretty low because im on my parents insurance and they have almost never have put in a claim plus i took drivers ed and am on the honor roll and both of those lower our insurance.
For the Finance Plan
havnt discussed that one yet
I wouldnt want a honda or toyota or chevy or ford because theres nothing interesting about them
you will see your car atleast once a day driving them
with a smart its new
not that many people in my area have one so ts unique
