To orphan or not to orphan?

So I configured my smart in August and the DDE now says Feb-May but the dealer called me today and they have a white/black orphan w/ comfort. The one I ordered was blue/silver w/ comfort. I'm curious as to how many waited till they got their order or went ahead and bought the orphan. I noticed some people bought orphans and then sold them when they got their original one. Why is that? I'm not sure what to do. Blue/silver is my 1st choice but white/black is nice too. Do you think I'll regret not waiting?? Thanks!

Buy NOW and start enjoying the ride NOW! You can figure out what to do with the other one later... That's what I did and haven't regretted it for a second!

Buy the orphan then sell it on ebay when your orderd car comes in. So many kids just cant wait to open the gift under the tree until Christmas that they will pay you some profit to put down on your orderd car

O.K. BLUE is my favorite color....so I'm biased! I'm telling you though, right after this car's been washed, and the sun is shining on that blue metallic paint.....it's a thing of beauty!! Really!! I waited for a year from the time I reserved until my car arrived..........TWO years if you count the year I was waiting for Daimler to decide to import the fortwo after I saw them in Canada! That being said, I don't know how old you are, but it seems that once you hit 50, time goes by faster than when you're younger! So.........5 months......or even 8 months.....goes by pretty fast. It's gone before you know it! Whether it's worth the wait to get the color that you really want......I think that's a personal decision that only YOU can decide! There were orphans available before my car arrived, and my wife liked the black/silver, and the white/silver, etc. However, I had to have my blue!! We already had a blue Chevy Aveo, but the blue on it doesn't even compare to the metallic blue on my smartie!! If you really, really have to have a smart RIGHT NOW, then go for the orphan and sell it when your blue one comes in. If you don't have to have it right now, then just wait and avoid the hassle and worry of selling the orphan later. Or just become a two-smart family if you're married and can afford it!! Either way, I wish you the best on your decision!

I bought an orphan and am really glad I did. I bought a red/silver/red and had ordered a white/silver/red. I just thought I would buy new panels when I get tired of the red. So far I love it. I'm so glad I didn't wait. I mean a 1-2 year wait is stupid!!

I bought exactly the same car (white/black orphan w/ comfort) and havent regretted it since. I am not on the waiting list so I will not be selling my smarty any time in the future. =)
