Our whirlwind of a ride in a new cabriolet!

My husband and I are just coming off our whirlwind of a ride in our new cabriolet!

The last Saturday of July we went to the Alexandria Smart dealer to ask about my reservation. I was worried because while checking online, it said my date could not be estimated at this time. While there we talked to one of the salesmen about being put on the cancellation list.

One WEEK later, we got a call about a red cabriolet orphan! On Tuesday, August 5th, we picked up the car and on Friday, the 8th, we drove from VA to PA and back (it was a really long day) to test the car out. We were extremely pleased with how well our new cabrio did on the highways. We could keep up with the other cars racing around with no problem. Plus, we were happy with the comfort and, of course, the gas mileage.

Finally, I just want to end my first post with a big thank you out to the person, whomever you are, that canceled so we could get our new car!

Hullo, fellow Cabriolians!

Aren't they fabulous? Even here, on the frequently wetish Central Oregon Coast, my top is down more than up. I am so smug, on gorgwous days, waving at other "convertibles" all covered up because it's apparently such a hassle to pull over and do the TopDown thing. Occasionally, my evil twin will close/open the top, just to show off how cool it is to have my 'on-the-fly' switches. (Tip: Keep the roll bar clean. It makes dirt-lines on the headliner that aren't that easy to clean off. I learned the dirty way...)

And, I love that the top stops where ever you want...a bit noisy, but helpful when stuck in the sun during road work stops...

Enjoy, enjoy, Cabriolians!

HULLO...............(smugly)............. .......ROAD TRIP!

The same thing happened to me - I was at the dealership when an red and black cabriolet was coming in as an orphan. I love this little car. Sounds like you love yours too! Have fun!

That's it, you people have sealed the deal. I'm order the cabrio tonight, right after my husband drives one this evening!! (like I'm going to let him stop me) But I need to let him think he could. just kidding, he actually is the one pushing for the cabrio; I needed convincing.

Good luck. I stopped in at my dealer to take a test drive and had a red/black cabrio sitting in my driveway that night. (The one I ordered showed up about a month later.)

Top down

Hi,

I have about 5500 miles on mine all but 250- miles with the top down. Best ride I have every had. Went from Charlotte to Atlanta and back this weekend all with the top down. Air blast from large trucks are not there with the top down.

Have fun.

OMG!!!! Were you on route 68?!?!?! I saw you!!!!!! I was the bright yellow smart going towards PA on Friday evening. I saw you right before we went up the first big "hill" and you were coming down. (right before you got to Cumberland) I honked and waved, but I was Flying 75 miles per hour and scaring the S*%# out of my boyfriend trying to wave at you.
