Passion Coupe Options

I deposited the $99.00 for the Passion Coupe. We have about 3 months to pick our options. I've been reading about the power steering, fog lamps and extended warranty. I have mixed feelings. I would appreciate any input.

Thanks;

Wuzzy2

Power Steering-Not needed
Fog Lamps--Not Needed

Regarding the extended warning its a gamble that you must choose.

I first wanted silver exterior, then swapped to white, now I want yellow. I got black leather, now I want red. I wanted pods, then decided I liked the uncluttered look. Now, I'm not sure. Got a coupe, but a Cabrio seems like it might be fun. Etc., etc., etc.

Moral: The mixed feelings don't go away. Even after you get the car.

Try to see as many configurations as you can, in person. And good luck with the agony of too many good choices. We've all been down that road.

IMO the non-power assist steering feels about the same as my Jetta WITH power steering.

On my current Smart I don't have foglights - on my next Smart I will be getting them just because "they look sporty" I already configured my next Smart and should be getting it around this August.

I think the power steering and fog lamps are both "it depends" items. If you live on the coast of California you'll definitely want fog lights (and they do look cool). And if you have arthritis like I do, you'll definitely want power steering. And if you think you may ever resell the car, both of those options will probably add to the resale value.

You have to do a cost/benefit analysis for any option. For me, the power steering and fog lights were worth the extra cost. The extended warranty wasn't.

I would say yes on all three.
Fog lamps are very nice even when its not foggy out, and with the smart being so small extra lights couldn't hurt.
Power steering helps a lot in delicate parking situations, and parking in funny spots is a habit of many smart owners.
The extended warranty is a no brainer in my opinion, at least until the smart becomes more ubiquitous and more repair centers truly understand them.

power steering and fog lamps cannot be easily added after purchase.
you don't have to decide on the extended warranty until you pickup or even after you pickup and at that time, there are a number of options, all of which are decision based upon risk aversion and return on investment.

i got the lamps and the PS came with the comfort package
i won't get the extended warranty.

To each his own...........

I don't know your financial circumstances, but if you can - I would strongly urge you to do the passion coupe "fully loaded". Resale value would be greatly enhanced by doing so and the cost should be right around $16,300 more or less.

The electronic power steering is a good extra item and the fog lights are nothing short of spectacular IMHO.

Remember NOTHING can be added without significant added cost after the car is delivered. It is much "cheaper" to configure it and have everything done at the factory.

We absolutely love our Passion coupe and it is worth the money. Average MPG at 1700 miles is 38-39MPG. Should even get better once over 2k miles.

Other items to "consider" at delivery are the all weather mats, and item # 11 retractable luggage compartment cover.

Soon after is the after market front sunshade and touch up paint (if needed - panels) and tridion cell (silver or black). AND especially window tinting all around (this puppy gets HOT).

I didn't get the fog lights and wish I did just because they look good (don't get much fog here in the desert).

I also didn't get the power steering and I don't regret that as the steering seems easy to me. Best to do back to back drives with and without to decide for yourself.
