Questions

I have just taken delivery of a cabrio SC and have a few questions:
1. Does the 17" wheels have any negative impact on drive train or mileage?
2. My car did not have day time running lights. Does anyone know how I can accomplish this via kit or other means?
3. I heard that I can purchase another set of body panels and have a second color car easiliy changed. Is this true or not and where can I purchase this?

First things first; was your car an "orphan?" smarts don't come with 17 in wheels so I'm guessing the dealer added them. They won't help your mileage.

No DRLs on the 08s, but there are aftermarket kits to add them.

Extra panels are available from your smart center parts department.

Talk to your dealer for a new set of panels

What does the SC Stand for? I don't think I have heard of that before

Clarification - I'm going to assume you purchased a 2008. If that's the case there's a stipulation on purchasing another set of panels. If you are looking to purchase either a set of Yellow or (2008 tomato)Red panels, your VIN number from your car must have had that color when it was built. It will be verified by smart.

Wow, first I've heard that. I assumed anyone could buy any color panels as long as they had the money.

yeah... we confirmed with 3 dealers in Florida... The parts dept over in Europe is verifying the VIN's for those 2 colors because they are not being produced anymore. All inventory is being reserved for replacement parts for the cars that are already those colors... It's especially important for the yellow's as it's a molded color and paint matching is a pain... and I speak from experience on that one.

Basicly this keeps them from having to provide "extras" of discontinued colors, only replacements of discontinued colors. But you should be able to purchase any existing colors, and you can always get them painted any color you want

RE: the DRL ... with the comfort package & Auto Headlights sensor. I won't do it, but I understand a small piece of electrical tape can be used to cover the center of the sensor, which will leave your headlights on if you keep it in the Auto position.
Or, it seems to me, you could just turn your lights on.

SC?

Do you have any idea who makes the kit for the DRL. It seems most drivers on the road are blind to SCOA cars and it would help with safety. I am still looking on line and have not found any.

I am looking at adding 17's to my car and want to know if their are any negative concerns.
