Hello all smarties!This is my first post asside from the new member (tell us what you ordered posting).I plunked down the 99 dollar reservation about 10 days ago.I'm looking at a long wait time as we all are.In reviewing many of the threads previously listed,I am somewhat concerned about the apparent lack of an owners manual availability.Also if I am understanding this correctly,the periodic maintenance must be performed by the dealership**-at a cost of $180 dollars for an oil change.Someone please tell me that I am mistaken.Iam very excited about the smart concept and am anxious to actually have the little guy ,but these are concerns that iI hope can be minimized through better or more thorough understanding.
Hello Angel,
Tell me about things.What is going on in your neck of the woods?How has your experience been with your travels in smartdom?Posting on forums is a new experience for me.What sage advise can you offer?

Well I spent my day busting my butt working in the yard. Weed eating, pulling weeds, edging, pruning bushes, trimming the hedges and even killed a snake. I hate yard work.
The Dom is fairly smart. But no traveling until Memorial Day weekend. {Sorry, couldn't resist.}
Speaking of sage, I need to plant some this year. My only advice is learn to use the "search" feature. It's helpful to keep from having umpteen dozen threads on the same topic. ;)
Angel,
I'm not familiar with the search function as of yet.Iwould imagine that it is something that I will get up to speed with ,however.I appreciate your suggestion.The weather in St.Louis is about as optimal as it ever gets.We have really been enjoying barbecuing and being outside.It is a real shame that we dont have our cabrio yet(another year or so) becouse tooling around with the top down would be
beyond belief****well,we will get there one of these days.My girlfriend and I are looking forward to the Chicago Blues Festival which will be June 5th through June 8th.It is always a great time!It is great hearing from you.Live it up

Jeff, wouldn't worry too much... I did my first oil change at 1500 miles - don't intend to do another until around 5-6K and then off to the dealers at 10k - my do it yourself changes cost less than 35.00 and it takes less than an hour, no lifting required... If an annual dealer expense is 180, I can handle that, my other cars are three times that... and I wouldn't even attempt to change oil on those... it's all part of the bonding with your smart... she'll be worth it... welcome.
Hello SeaDoc,
Thanks so much for your input.What you are saying makes a lot of scence.In the grand scheme of things it is just not that big of an issue.As I have said before,this posting on a forum thing is a new experience for me.I must say that I have really gotten addicted to checking out the listings and spend quite a bit of time scrolling through the threads and checking out what has been posted.Previous to my $99 dollar reservation and initial information seeking efforts I tended to think that people who spent as much time as I am expending were in dire straights of a real life.Now I am either forced to rethink my position or come to the conclusion that I need a real life.And all this time I thought I had a life already!Thanks again for your advise and please keep me posted .Any other thoughtsfrom anyone?

I've found spending time on the forums and hearing other people's stories is a great way to pass the time while you're waiting for your own car! (Even though it's a tad frustrating to hear the people who waited three weeks and got an orphan when you've waited a full year...) Besides, as one user's signature reads, it's a car and it's a way of life.
Hello Broken Kid,
The beauty of the forum is that while issues are bandied about and problems, either real or imagined ,are addressed**-for those of us who are waiting for our car it is a way to vicariously enjoy the experience.While I am appreciating being made aware of all the possible things that can be encountered,I find that there is a lot of wisdom imparted by those of us who are actual current owners.I think you are right,Broken Kid,It is as much a way of life as it is a car.What a fun thing we all have here
