Report on the Pittsburgh (PA) Auto Show
February 12-15 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center
Pittsburgh International AutoShow, Official Website
The Smart was relegated to the 2nd floor and furthest corner of the convention center, which was the longest and most inconvenient walk. Was surprised at the attendance in these economic times, and the convention center’s parking was full – and shuttles were available for outside parking lots.
The three Smart models featured were the 2009s -
Blue Metallic & Metallic Silver Cell Cabriolet,
Grey Metallic & Metallic Silver Cell Passion, and the
Rally Red & Black Cell Pure. The images on line do not do these cars justice. The ‘09 paint colors are breathtaking. It’s so satisfying to see a non-color blind individual picked these shades. Give that person a bonus, please!!!
(Dang – should have brought my digital camera.) Also three lovely models handed out the small card promotion which would please the men in attendance.
Our local Pittsburgh channels regularly did their reporting in front of the captivating Cabriolet. Saw it repeatedly throughout the week and this weekend again on WTAE.
As you can expect – the sporty Cabriolet had unsupervised children climbing, and driving with their imagination. Where were their parents? Probably over at the luxury models dreaming as well.
That visit sold me – even though I haven’t driven one, as of yet! Promptly came home and ordered mine. (Reason – I loved my old 1969 Automatic Volkswagon Beetle of my late teen years. It had air that never worked. Want my youth back! My ‘97 Linc makes me feel old. )
