Report on the Pittsburgh (PA) Auto Show

Report on the Pittsburgh (PA) Auto Show
February 12-15 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center
Pittsburgh International AutoShow, Official Website

The Smart was relegated to the 2nd floor and furthest corner of the convention center, which was the longest and most inconvenient walk. Was surprised at the attendance in these economic times, and the convention center’s parking was full – and shuttles were available for outside parking lots.

The three Smart models featured were the 2009s - Blue Metallic & Metallic Silver Cell Cabriolet, Grey Metallic & Metallic Silver Cell Passion, and the Rally Red & Black Cell Pure. The images on line do not do these cars justice. The ‘09 paint colors are breathtaking. It’s so satisfying to see a non-color blind individual picked these shades. Give that person a bonus, please!!!

(Dang – should have brought my digital camera.) Also three lovely models handed out the small card promotion which would please the men in attendance.

Our local Pittsburgh channels regularly did their reporting in front of the captivating Cabriolet. Saw it repeatedly throughout the week and this weekend again on WTAE.

As you can expect – the sporty Cabriolet had unsupervised children climbing, and driving with their imagination. Where were their parents? Probably over at the luxury models dreaming as well.

That visit sold me – even though I haven’t driven one, as of yet! Promptly came home and ordered mine. (Reason – I loved my old 1969 Automatic Volkswagon Beetle of my late teen years. It had air that never worked. Want my youth back! My ‘97 Linc makes me feel old. )

Thanks for the update; even though you've ordered a car, you may be able to find a "clone" already on a dealer's lot - many orphan smarts out there, no waiting! Either way, take a test drive anyway.

No kidding. I have tried selling my smart 4x in the last month and they are not fetching any interest. I just had my car detailed and not a single person at the carwash came to ask about the car - the lot had 20 cars in it.

I might as well keep it since the Ebay sharks are only offering peanuts and who knows, if the gas jumps to $3/gallon this summer - it might be interesting again.

My wife and I visited today and it was definitely more crowded than I would've expected! Anyway, enjoyed the show and finally seeing a Rally Red model. I definitely prefer the Rally over than the previous red.

Glad another attended. BTW, Happy Anniversary. Read another post where the Pittsburgh Dealer has 150 on the waiting list for orphans.

But understand Ohio has many available. Might have to look in that direction if I can't wait.

Does anyone know if Smart Dealers send overstock to other Dealers? Probably has never happened. Dah!

There's been silver and black one on a Ford used car lot here since xmas. Lots of new ones at the Smart dealer for sale too. The dealer is running ad's any color, and model, in Sunday paper. Cars sells are bad!!!!

People still look at mine, and smile and wave.
Yesterday someone said to me that's a nice looking blue Le car. He knows his cars.
