Should I?

Hello, Everyone:

I'm seriously thinking about ordering a SmartCar. Should I? I mean, is everyone happy with his/hers? Also, I read somewhere that there will be an electric SmartCar coming out in 2009. Should I wait on that?

No electric or any other hybrid smart coming out in 2009. In any event, an order placed now would surely be a 2009.....almost a 2010! I think most people are happy with theirs...I know I am!

Welcome to the forums!

Christopher, you've come to the wrong place to ask if people are happy with their cars. The nature of the forum is generally a love fest, with minor annoyances or helpful suggestions thrown in. You'd be hard pressed to find someone here who would say don't get one.

aaarghhhh. I'm not trying to be snarky here, but Mods, could we do some kind of sticky thread to address this, or an automatic search for the droves of people who keep coming here and asking this same question.

OP, just page back a day or two, heck, an hour or two, and you'll see lots of similar threads, with lots of similar answers.

For the record, multi Smart family, no problems whatsoever with any of them, we all love ours. It's quirky, it's not a baby Mercedes, and it's a helluva a lotta fun. Mercy, I believe I can just about type this on autopilot now.

I watched the season premiere of Top Gear, and Clarkson was slamming some lovely, sexy AMG around on the track, and I was feeling the green envy heat of wantthatdom come over me, until it occurred to me, I like my Smart better than that.

Electric Smart is a 2010 release... and the wait will likely be the same 12-18 months that it is now. I would order one now.... I just ordered a second to my wife can have one, and I'm really hoping that it will have the new MHD system. (Wondering if an existing 451 can be converted also) I say get it now, and get an orphan if you don't want to wait. That's what I did, and it happened to have exactly what I wanted plus a couple of extras, and that only cost about 2K more than what I had anticipated, but still fell within my budget payments. I am extraordinarily happy with my Smart and highly recommend it.
Yes, I was a bit weary at first, but after watching a few crash test video's and taking a test drive at the dealer, I was totally sold. Sure, I have a couple of dislikes about the smart, but I can't think of any vehicle I have ever had that I haven't. (and the one's with the Smart have been relatively easy to remedy.)

well, I hear what you're saying, but considering that this is this users FIRST post, don't you think we should cut him some slack, eh? Better that we have people ask (albeit redundant) questions then having people search the forums, find their answer, and NOT sign up!
