smart car 2009 spare

Can anyone tell me where to get a reasonable spare tire for my smart! I love the car but no spare scares me.Also what size wrench is needed and can front tires be put on the rear?We live in Pennsylvania and would love hearing fron other smart owners.

Thanks G.W.

I don't understand your Poll

15 MM Wrench for the Lugs,
Yes fronts can be put on the back if needed for emergencys.
Lots of info here and options for spares, Ill let someone with one let you know, You could just purchase a pure front rim from your dealer

Forest: I think it's 15 mm, isn't it?

Planter: I don't really understand the poll either, but I don't carry a spare or wrench. I swapped to 15x6 wheels all the way around with 195/50 tires which are easy to come by and have other benefits. A 15 mm socket should be available about anywhere (even in WV!) to remove the lugs. I don't want to jinx myself, but I've never had a flat to deal with on any car in 20 some years of driving, so I haven't been that concerned and don't want to give up the space or carry the weight. If the worst happens, I may not be able to change it myself, but roadside service should be able to come up with a wheel/tire/15mm socket unlike the OEM wheels/tires.

Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels is one of many places for a spare.

15MM for the lug bolts. 5MM is just a tad small

I now ALWAYS carry a socket set with me with a 15MM ready for the worst to happen. While a socket set can be found almost anywhere, the fact is you have to be able to get to the place to get it first. Of course this is only if your wheel was loose and about to fall off because you took it off and then didn't torque it down after reinstalling it like an idiot.

Personally, I can live without a spare, lug wrench, and jack on my commute. If I am going on a trip I'd like to have those with me for peace of mind. I have a solution for that, I'll share it in about a month and a half.

I would vote for a JACK?

Howdy all

I would vote for a A)15mm wrench, B) spare and C) a JACK?

D) ALL of the above

Can't use any without the others?

I'd love to have a spare Smart but it's a little pricey for me at the moment. I didn't find any at Tire Rack, just my local Smart Center.

I know a guy who bought a wheel (Rial) and a tire from tire rack. That is now his spare. He'l probably chime in later this even when he gets off work.
