Smart Car battery recall

Hello. I've had good luck with my Smart Cabriolet until about a month ago. If I don't drive the car every day, the battery will just up and die. I've had to call roadside assistance twice in the past month. I heard rumours about a recall but can't get any confirmation. The dealership where I purchased it is now closed and I'm out twisting in the wind.

I'd appreciate any information that anyone would have on this subject. Thanks.

A lot of the '08's had that problem and many got new batteries along with the 2.0 transmission upgrade. I think the ones with the comfort package and/or the alarm get the new, heavier duty, battery. But, I'm not really sure of the criteria to qualify for the replacement. (Mine got a new battery even though I'd never had a problem with the old one. )I would think that a call to any dealer could get you that info and, with your VIN, they could tell you if yours qualifies and/or has had the upgrade already.

When I took my '08 in, the flashed the tran and checked the serial number plate, but said nothing of the battery!!

Do you need smart 2.0 upgrade??????
