As part of a Human Mobility Research project we have several Segway GEN I's and GEN II'S which we use in ergonomics (time and motion) studies at various locations.
We have carried them in mini-vans, SUV's, Sedan trunks and have a trailer hitch mounted, electric lift which will carry one/two at a time.
I have tried to find someone who can give me "through the door" measurements (not wall-to-wall after you get it inside.)
My best numbers from a post elsewhere in this Forum are 33" wide, rear doorway opening X 21 " Deep (I hope that is the actual, closest horizontal measurement with the Tailgate up and locked - back of the driver seats to the most intrusive hard surface on the fold up lower door.)
The height from the floor to the most intrusive part of the hatch opening at the top is said to be 28"/39"??? tall.)
The SEGWAY I want to put inside is 24" wide and 21" front to back. Wheel Diameter is just under 20".
The Control shaft can be telescoped down to about 34" and , if I detach the Control Shaft with a Quick Release, I can get the Base unit (with the separated CS) down to 16" tall. The GEN I SEGWAY HT weighs only 86 lbs, so weight is not a factor.
Can some one help me with measurements on a SMART CAR trunk size?
