Smart Cars from stock

Seems like dealers have inventory now. I'd like to find a white Passion coupe with red interior. Gauges and fog ligths would be nice but not a sticking point. I think I will take advantage of the cash for clunkers program. Has anyone else done so?

smart USA is ready to do the CARS program right now; someone just posted about turning in an older van for the full $4500 credit. Go for it!

PS - if they don't have what you want in stock, ask them to look for it using the smart Express program.

I just bought my SmartCar this weekend by getting one that was in stock instead of having to reconfigure my production order to a 2010 and wait another 6 months. I was lucky and got real close to what I wanted. I traded the red interior that I ordered for a black leather interior. I only paid a little more but got a rebate. Worked out well for me because this little baby is my birthday present!

I got mine off the floor, an option I didn't want, heated seats but it was worth it. I would have used the clunkers program but my '93 toyota p/u didn't qualify.

I used the clunkers program to pick mine up on Saturday. I traded my 88 Jeep Cherokee that got about 16mpg in on a red/black passion with black leather seats. Almost exactly what I wanted (originally wanted black/black, but my dealer had none with leather, and leather was a must for me), and my first tank netted 42.65 MPG without even trying!

Good luck!

Well, I will say your choice of color is good!

So you went from an 18 ft 8 in Suburban to a 8 ft 8 in Smart. Wow think of the room in your garage!!!
We have an Explorer and a Smart. Switching from one to the other is interesting. When I drive the Explorer I find my self not pulling far enough into the parking place. When pulling up to an intersection the nose of my Explorer now sticks out.
I love my Smart, but I did have to haul 7 grandkids last weekend so the Explorer was nice to have too.

If you want the fog lights, get them already installed. The after-sale cost is extreme. With more people buying from stock, you might find the exterior color is less of a problem. . .just swap panels with another buyer in the same circumstances.
