Smart ForTwo in Mexico

Hello, I bought a Smart ForTwo Passion, all black last November.

So far so good and love the space saving size of this vehicle!

I was in Cabo San Lucas last week and was very surprised to see a MB dealership there-but at least there was a Yellow Smart in the showroom!

a used car dealership in santa ana ca was selling a 2004 smart with mexican plates. I asked if the car could be registered here in the states? He said he thought so. It had 40000 on it and was $11000. I decided to wait and glad I did. The car sold in a week. I would not buy a car that used premex gas for 40000 miles. I always feel my gas tank before I cross the border into TJ.

It's Pemex, not premex and it's not as bad as you think, also those 40,000 were kilometres.

You'd have never gotten that thing registered in the USA, but I wouldn't have been worried about the Pemex fuel, I've never had any trouble with it, and the only reason I ever filled up on the American side before going over was to save money. When I used to go there often in the late 90's, it was cheaper in the US, probably still is.

Mexico's border prices for regular have remained at 7.41 pesos a liter, or about $2.60 a gallon. Prices in the interior are even lower at about $2.41 a gallon.
