No you can not fit 2 adults and a baby seat but the smart car safely have a baby seat in the passenger front seat. If you look in the back there is a sliver ring attached to the floor, this is where you attach the baby seat.

Back on July 5th of 2008 when my dad and I were coming back from picking up his "Fortwo" we stopped at a Tractor Supply store and bought a new seat for our tractor. While stopped at a rest area we were mobbed (remember this was well over a year ago) and while we were showing the rear area to a bunch of ladies one freaked out and thought it was soooo neat there was a "third seat" in the back. While it was funny, I wouldn't recommend it.

When we got the car home my dad was showing the car to my mom and told her he paid an extra $500 for the extra passenger seat option and showed her the seat and I proceeded to climb in and try to sit down mentioning it would be a little tight but it would work if you moved the right way to contort your body. The whole time she was saying, "I don't see how anyone could fit in there". Finally we told her we stopped and picked up a seat for the tractor and that was it.

I remember something similar w/tractor seat?

I recall way back when I was first on the forums (this one I think?) there was a pic of a tractor seat (w/ seatbelts) that someone had mounted in the back of their smart.
As I recall, it stated so he could take his wife and 4 yr old granddaughter "just down the steet" for ice cream?

Personally, I thought it was a unique solution, but also dangerous?

I can't find the thread or pics now (of course) but I would strongly suggest NOT doing this.

Since the passenger airbag shuts off with low weight on the seat, you can use a booster seat for a child. I've done it quite often. It didn't take long for my 4 year old granddaughter to figure out the lock and unlock buttons on the dash. She makes a game out of locking the car before I can get around to her side to open the door.

Small children can be Velcro'd onto the overhead roll bar in the cabriolet. Just have them wear flannel pajamas and place the "male" Velcro on the bar.

Works well if you are not interested in the Stebel horn replacement too!

My Kids love the smart because they get to sit up front. Its no different than kids riding in a single bench pick up truck, Except usually when I see kits in a pick up they are not in seat belts and you have to manually turn off the airbags.

I get much better questions from the kids when they are in the front rather than the back. Maybe its the smart factor. But the kids can see the lines and signs much better. It's much better for learning

So no I would not put a kid in the back.
However. During the midwest rally one car has 3 in it for the group drive. Stuffing an adult in the back.
And once someone mentioned going to pick up the new smart with his parents, only to realize after they had traded in the other car someone was going to have to ride in the back to get home.
