Smart Wanted - need creative financing

I have been wanting a Smart Passion for over a year now and following them very closely on the 'net. I won't have the money until late Sept/early Oct, but I keep finding ones that I want and am afraid they won't be available when I'm (financially) ready. Wish I could buy one with a down payment now and lump sum balance in 6 to 7 months. I particularly like the yellow ones, which can now only be bought as used. Black tridion and interior. Any ideas?

No crystal ball, but the economy isn't going to pick up anytime soon so there will be a good supply of orphans available. My advice would be to wait until you have your finances taken care of.

These may not be the best of times to rush and engage in creative financing schemes. Some smart that you like will be there when you have your conventional, reliable financing in place, and can sleep at night.

True,

If you need creative financing, perhaps you shouldn't be buying anything

What's the best way to get on a list for an orphan?

Nana5X, you can call a dealership smart center in your area and ask to be put on an orphan list. That's how we bought our car. They can be on the
lookout for you a yellow one.

I understand that the orphans are supposed to be offered to those on the waiting list, but..... I think the reality is calling the dealership and seeing what they have available. At the car show 2 weeks ago in Dallas the dealer claimed to have 10 orphans. Nothing we wanted. We then went to Fort Worth and got the only Brabus orphan we have seen. Fort Worth claimed that they had sold 6 orphans in a week. Good luck

Find a friend who can register it for you in CT. You'll save $1000 in sales tax.
