Basically the reason they can run the 87 is the motor detects any preignition through the ping or knock sensor and usually it will increase fuel and retard ignition... there is a caution in the manual that this may deteriorate the catalyst early because of the raw fuel wash into the cylinders and exhaust system...[/quote]

Hummmmmmm... Good point. I don't suppose "feathering" the accelerator would......

Awwww heck! I'll just use the hi-test!

I spoke with Marty at the Georgetown dealership today and I will be adopting an orphan either next week or the week after.

Is there a Smart club in Austin?

Doesn't it get really dark and spooky under those bridges at night? And where are you planning to park your car? Oh, wait a minute... hehe Sorry, your not THAT kind of troll. Glad you've come around. Hope you find your smart soon.

CH of Austin: If there is no club now, there soon will be one . What a cool place to own a Smart.

We sure enjoy our Michigan Group. Next week we are being hosted by Smart Center, BLoomfield. for a "Smart on the hoist" tech session " given by their service dept. Last meeting was given by a high end detail shop.

Some downsides on the Smart here in the Mid-West, but should be smooth sailing in Tex.

Good move on grabbing an orphan. Color Yet?

Talk to us often.

Regards. A2Jack.
