Some questions about CDI, milage, performance, improvments?

Hey all!

I'm a new member, and I'm from Norway..
Owning a car and buying a car for that matter, is quite expencive here.
And I commute to work, it is about 88 miles almost every day.
So I've figured out that owning a Smart would be economic for me.

So I have figured out that I can have a low milage CDI 08 model,
for a reasonable price, if I import it from Germany..

All is well to here, so here is the questions I have been wondering about.
(I might add some more, later)

I'm looking to improve the performance, with 5 - 10 hp,
is there a good way to achive this, without remaping?

A remap, is it advicable?
Would the wear and tear on the engine be increased significantly?
(I guess this is best to wait with, untill the car is no longer covered by the warrenty)

What is the std dimmention on the wheels?

Have been looking at Eibach Springs to get rid of the "jerkyness",
I guess this is the best way to solve it?
I've also seen a Coilover set available, anyone tried this out?

And what is the suggested service intervals on the CDI?
I will be doing most of the maintainance myself, to save some money.. The mekanics in this country is asking way to much money for small jobs.. Besides the dealer for Smart and Mercedes is one of the worst around, no service and plenty of complaints.. *sigh*

Well, I hope you can help me with some of the questions ;-)

Thanks..

Kind regards
New member Thanx

CDI

Hi Thanx

The cdi runs 15000 km each service.

You can remap the engine from 45 hp to 65 hp

The standard dimesnion on wheels depends which model.

Pure front 155/60-15 back 175/55-15

Pulse Front 175/55-15 back 195/50-15

Im going to put 16 inch wheels on mine with 195 in front, and 215 in the back

Then im going to lower it by 20 cm in front, an 40 cm in back.. I did see one in the web from gremany with almost that configuration.

Regards

Carsten

What is done during the service?
Does anyone know? Change of oil and filter?
For the different 15.000 k / 30.000 k, and so on..

Well, I guess a remap would increase the wear and tear on the engine, so it would not last that long?

I would be happy with a 5 to 10 gain, if it does not wear the engine down faster..

Hehe, Carsten, I belive you are lowering the car in millimeters, not centimeters.. I belive 20 cm at front and 40 cm on the back would be impossible.. ;-)
