Hi there to all you fantastic smartie owners. On December 21, 2008 I purchased my first smartie. I have loved these cars since I visited France in 2003. You can well imagine I was excited the day the news was released that they'd be in the U.S.!
My smartie is black with silver and I have already made the list for all the upgrades I intend to do. I've recently installed a Pioneer AVIC-BT90. The component speakers are being changed on thursday. I yet to decide on a Brabus or Carlsson Kit. I'm also not sure if I want to put the wheels smart is using on the new Brabus Smart or the Genius wheels : ^ Anyway, glad to be here in the company of other smarties, nice to meet and talk to you in the future.
I ordered a red passion in July. I got a configuration request for a Brabus in Oct which I missed the window on. I got a configuration request on Dec 22 for my original order which I did on Dec 25. till yesterday (I used to check everyday) my dde estimator stated dates of Jan 2009 to Mar 2009. Suddenly today, it said that my dde couldn't be estimated.
I sent an email and got the following response (looks canned):
Dear smart Enthusiast At this point, your vehicle enters into the manufacturing phase. Once your vehicle has been manufactured, your reservation details will be forwarded to your authorized smart USA dealership. You will then be contacted by the dealership regarding your projected delivery date. I do apologize we have been unable to provide you with a delivery date estimate. The DDE considers factors such as vehicle production, distribution and Reservation Holder cancellations. Any changes to one or more of these factors could cause a change in your estimated delivery date. As we finalize the distribution process to take in account any changes in your area to the demand or distribution, we may be unable to provide you with an accurate 90 day window of your delivery date. We do update the information for the DDE on a daily basis, so please check back from time to time and we will continue to work to provide you with your delivery date estimate. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact us via email or by phone at 1.800.smartusa. Thank you for your interest in smart USA. You will be hearing from us soon!
I am counting down the day's til I get "Skunk". Ordered a Black with Silver Tiridion, Comfort Package, Fog Lamps, Extra Instrument Cluster, and Stereo 10.
I couldn't wait any longer for my smart...I put in my reservation over a year ago...configured my car months ago and still....delivery date was estimated for May 2009.
I called the dealership that my car was going to be delivered to and they told me that they had what I configured only in rally red/black instead of the blue/silver. I went to the dealership and bought my rally red orphan the next day. She's a passion with the upgraded radio (hardly worth it) and the comfort package.
Have ordered a Cabrio of Rally Red, Black trim, Red interior. Great car for the Texas coast. Only one other in town that I know of. This will make a big splash down here! We have fish bigger than these cars! Should get delivery next week. Hooray!!!!!
09 Rally Red Cabrio, Black Tridon Cell, Heated Seats, Crab eyes, The New Red interior, Alarm, and did not get the electronic steering. Also bought a spare tire/bag.
My wife and I ordered a Red/Black/Black Passion with the comfort package in late 2007 and will be picking it up finally in March 2009. Our "Ladybug" will be travelling with us from Dallas to DC as I just received a promotion in my organization. Ladybug should be a good fit in DC as parking reeks in that area, and there are lots of other Smarties cruising the district!
I have on order and expecting delivery of my new Passion Coupe 2009, by or before 1-28-09. The cutie has rally red exterior, red interior and a black tridion safety cell!
YEAH!
