Trunk Space

Hello All,

Just signed in while doing a Google for "trunk space" info on a Smart car. Am seriously thinking of purchasing/ordering one as all my driving is in a small city in the Ohio Valley. Only other occupant is a Westie. But I do purchase a rather large amount of groceries.

Can anyone supply info on trunk space? Having owned a 1969 Beetle (in the dark ages) for 8 years - that size truck would be sufficient.

Awaiting any reply,

Krootie

With the price going up, it will be easier to get $300 of groceries into the Fortwo.

There is a lot more usable space in the back of the smart than there is in the front of a bug. I have yet to come home with too many groceries, for a household of three adults.
Now, I have had a crowd form to watch me stash everything in the back of my smart, and drew a number of surprised comments that I could get a buggy-full of stuff in the car, and still have room for me!
Just a word of advise - heavy stuff on the bottom, bread and chips last...

Don't forget that if your only passenger is a Westie (we had a Cairn named Reggie who lived past 18, God bless the little guy ) you can also fold the passenger seat forward to create an "L" shaped cargo compartment that's even larger.

If you get the cabriolet, you can put 12 foot 2x4's in it (with the roof open). I put in some 52" long window screens a Passion and had room for a passenger. We find any reasonable amount of groceries is a snap.

. . . . . . and the passion cabriolet has all the features of the passion coupe plus an upgraded radio and sound system that includes an mp3 compatible in-dash 6-disk CD changer. The main difference lies in the soft top, with a heated rear glass window, that is fully automatic and can be infinitely adjusted to any position while driving at any speed. For the full cabriolet experience, simply remove the side roof bars - taken out in no time - and stow them in a special compartment in the tailgate. Hum , . . . now I wonder if my hubby would think I'm worth it??? Loaded - still cheaper than that '97 Lincoln. Right? You a salesman???

The only reason my wife and I dont go grocery shopping in the smart is that we buy every two weeks and go together. We DO do the Sams trip though. And if one goes by themselves then we take the smart.

Also going on vacation in the smart!
