A few hours ago I was logged in here, getting ready to post for the first time. I was going to ask how accurate the Delivery Date Estimator is on the Smart web site (mine showed 4/18/2008 to 7/17/2008). I was interrupted by a call from Smart Center in Riverside, CA that my car is ready for pickup! I've spent the last few hours scrambling to get financing organized so I can pick my car up tomorrow. I really didn't expect that call till July but of course I'm very happy now!

Yes, I think I will. It was almost exactly a year ago that I put down my $99, and there were several times I thought about cancelling and getting another car, but hopefully the Smart will work out well. Can't wait till tomorrow!

yes, the start date of the DDE appears to be the build date, so many of us now are seeing deliveries around 4 weeks into the DDE so you're right on schedule. Mine DDE start was 4/20, and my car arrive in on tuesday and will be picking it up tomorrow.

soareyes you gott keep us up to date on how well it drives with blowing winds in the high desert. Will you be taking it up and down the Pass during Santa Ana conditions?

Fortunately I live and work in Victorville, so few trips are needed down the Cajon Pass. Of course when I pick up the car tomorrow, I'll have to drive up the pass from Riverside to get home. Suppose to be 99 degrees and windy so the Smart will get a workout! For those not familiar with the area, the Cajon Pass is a 4000 ft climb from San Bernardino up to the Mojave desert, with frequent high winds, fog, brush fires, plus it sits right on the San Andreas fault.
