I waited 18 months for mine, built just for me to my specs. It seemed to be forever...
The appointment is for your benefit as the salesperson should show you around your red baby - where things are and how they work. And Forest's advice is spot on. Let them show you, then do it yourself. My other half managed to get a picture of me from the posterior when I was getting the 'this is how the engine cover works' lesson.
The apointment is so you get the time and attention you deserve. Take your time durring delivery and make the tech you how to get in and out of the engine compartment, Teach you how to get to the battery, Teach you how to get to your washer fluid. Don't just let them show you, you need to do it for your self. I don't want you comming back saying I cant get my thingamajig to fit into the dohicky when I try and get to the Blinker fluid
If only they'd do that here in Metro Atlanta. There seems to be a tremendous shortage of blinker fluid in this state.

And also go over the body with a "fine toothed" comb
I had some clear coat damage that I didn't notice at delivery
Ok, I know it seems to you all that it's only been a week or so, but really it's been since that movie "Davinci Code". As far as getting it from the port, yeah, it's only been a week, might as well be 10 years. I feel bad for those of you that ordered yours and it has been a year or so. That would be torture!
Are you all serious about blinker fluid? Just so you know, I am blonde, but come on, blinker fluid?

...OH OH....the root of all problems...
...the blinker fluid of the smart comes in a hermetically seal container so there will be no need to add any for the life of the car...
Woot! Grats on your impending delivery of a Smart! I had to wait maybe 3-4 days for mine as well, taking delivery from port (I really wanted the black cell with white). I am lovin' my little Smart...and it sounds like yours will have a good home.
I've wanted a smart car every since I saw Davinci code with Tom Hanks. We finally decided to get one with the cash for clunkers program. They were able to get one from port with the color and options we wanted. They aren't open on Sunday, but we went to go visit our little red baby anyway. We can't get it until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. We had to make an appointment...I think they must have a lot of customers for this cash for clunkers program. So, we just have to wait our turn I sure hope the government doesn't run out of money by then. I know they allocated a billion dollars, but it's a big country!
This cash for clunkers program rocks! We tried to sell our '94 Ford conversion this summer, couldn't even get anyone to look at it! Now we're getting $4500 for it! Woo Hoo!!!
BTW, love this forum!
Hey, me tinks I still have to wait until or after August 13th so yous lucky.
Oh do want to know where that Ford of yours is going to spend the rust of its life?
