Just got the Smart Passion Coupe - Silver with black, comfort package.
I had always liked the car, We have an SUV and had F150 truck.
Our fun summer car is a Miata (two seater as well and convertible)
On Friday night wify told me about clash for clunker - most women have something against a mans truck
The F150 was worth less then $1K, but lot more to me. Gave 17MPG easy rated for 15MPG average. It qualified. Everything is worth what ever someone else is willing to give for it and not what you think it is worth.
So early Saturday Morning we went to the Smart Center, I wanted to by the cheapest - wasn't too thrilled about another car payment.
But I calculated if we replace the truck with this and drive this more then the SUV then we will be saving on average $100-150 on fuel alone every month. Our combined daily mileage is 160miles. The Miata gives 30MPG+ every day. In winter/bad weather Wife can drive the SUV and I can drive the smart or work from home.
We test drove the pure, just around the parking lot. It was big and roomy very surprising. The manual steering was not a problem but we needed A/C.
Any way we ended up with a Passion with Comfort package and several $$$$ more then I wanted to pay but with the savings and all, it should pay for itself in the long run.
I am hoping it will last a long time, The warranty on the car is only two years 24K miles and extended warranty was a little expensive.
I already see there are turbo chargers for it out there and after market exhaust, springs etc etc.
For now no mods- I do mods on my miata all the time and its way too much $$$$ and I don't want two moded cars.
I want this one to say "I am Smart"
I did get the Rubber mats $50 they are good to have. I lined the back engine cover with some rubber mat I got at Lowes and put it on with velcro and cut it to size.
In winter I plan on getting a set of wheels with winter tires - don't care about TPMS as long as it does not continuously beep.
In Future I may change the springs and replace the exhaust.
Turbo will defeat the purpose of a smart car (to me) again I have the miata which gets all that.
I already have questions for the community on how to change the oil/filter and tranny oil? I will do the search.
I usually work on cars my self but I always have the workshop manual.
I hope to get help here so I can change the oils this winter.
regards
