What is the availability of aftermarket parts?

I am very interested in these cars and I am going to test drive one in a couple of hours.

A big concern of mine is the availability of aftermarket parts. Are they out there and how is the selection?

I would like to do the normal i/h/e. I am ok with fabbing my own parts, but I would rather buy something that is there so I don't have to do the work...cause I am lazy these days.

Plenty of parts if you have plenty of $$$$. No matter what the local source, most seem to come from Europe (no big surprise) and with the weak dollar and high shipping costs these parts are ex-pen-sive! Check out the forum vendor sales area for some examples.

if you want a car to mod get a Yaris or something, the smart will not be worth the money. you will still have a 0-60 in 12 in the end :P. all though a little growl would be awesome

there are many suppliers of parts for whatever your needs are check out the uk and canadian smart car club webs lots of info and very friendly the sky is the limit......enjoy your smart
