Adios, George Carlin

What a loss, not just to the world of comedy but to the small number of insightful commentators on our society. George Carlin was a funny guy always, but also had a keen sense of what was BS and the need to point out the BS no matter what. He had just been announced the 11th recipient of the Kennedy Center's Mark Twain award; extremely fitting as Carlin was, IMHO, up there with Twain, Will Rogers and Groucho as one of the great American iconoclasts. He will be missed.

Yes, I was saddened to read about his death yesterday morning. A true genius of comedy and words.

As much as I enjoyed his counter-culture comedy while I was growing up, my favorite Carlin bit is the one about the difference between baseball and football. I have heard it so many times and still laugh every time I hear it.

Well George, now you're going home!

George Carlin's use of English was amazing, I would never have known he didn't finish high school until I saw it on the news. He truly was in the same class as Mark Twain.

Loved Carlins comedy ever since the WINO radio bit. His insight into human behavior with respect to language was unsurpassed, which is what made his comedy unique. See Ya George....
