Dress Codes for Avatars

"With businesses increasingly using digital tech like virtual worlds and Twitter, their staff will have to be given guidelines on how they 'dress' their avatars, according to analysts. 'As the use of virtual environments for business purposes grows, enterprises need to understand how employees are using avatars in ways that might affect the enterprise or the enterprise's reputation,' said James Lundy, managing vice president at Gartner, in a statement. 'We advise establishing codes of behavior that apply in any circumstance when an employee is acting as a company representative, whether in a real or virtual environment.'" ~Slashdot.com, nk497 writes

Another good reason to stay out of as many virtual worlds as possible...

Let's be careful out there,

I guess the avatar should dress according to ones business; what you would wear to work should be what your avatar wears too. This makes sense to me. Since the avatar represents you, it should also reflect you business attire and give the right image.

My latest avatar does not represent me in anyway. Let that be said.

I suppose if I were to have an avatar that represented my job I'd have stuff blowing up with body parts flying everywhere. JUST KIDDING! Much rather keep my virtual world separate from my real world. I like it here in my virtual world......

I think there is a difference in having an avatar represent ones business versus having one represent oneself away from business. If one is using the online as part of ones business, then one should have it dress appropriately. If one is online for just fun or for personal things, it should reflect it too. I think it should parallel what one wears for business as opposed to what one wears while relaxing at home or on vacation.

My avatar reflects my current feelings towards smart. Like right about now I left my formore craze and had gotten into a roadster lovin'.
