Fans of British police TV series?

If so, have a look at The Last Detective, currently available on Netflix. Stars Peter Davison (All Creatures Great and Small, Dr. Who, At Home with the Braithwaites, etc.) as well as an excellent supporting cast. Warning: no gun play, car chases or exploding briefcases.

"The Last Detective" (2003)

I love the British police series such as Inspector Morse and the scottish series Taggard. Unfortunately they both passed on. Since I don't have Netflix I will keep my eyes open on the TLD on regular cable programming however. Thanks for the tip

taggarT I love taggart. I've lived in Glasgow, its no where near as bad as it appears. Just! hahaha They do still make it though, but just without the original Taggart as he died quite a few years ago. Moss isnt made at all any more, which is ashame. Im sure there were a few episodes with Lewis as the main detective. If you like both of them, look up Midsummer Murders

OK, it was Morse and Midsomer Murders; when John Thaw died they did do a couple of Inspector Lewis series which were on PBS over here. OK, but not quite the same IMHO, although Kevin Whately does a nice job with the Lewis character.

We receive programming on BBC America such as MI 5 which unfortunately is no longer on.
Is any one familiar with getting world TV thru the computer? There are several companies that are offering boxes for a monthly fee that connect to a TV. The whole thing sounds questionable though...

To digress for a minute...see the film District 9 and you will eating big shrimp with new thoughts.
There are no smart cars in it... yet I highly recommend the film!
It cost only 30 million to make which isn't much by today's standards, yet the characters are developed, the CG's are excellent and the plot is not of the typical Star Trek or monster flick. The film is from South Africa with unknown actors and starts in a documentary style presentation and is also fast paced.

It's all good; we don't get nearly enough of the good British TV shows over here but some of them end up on PBS or BBC America. And now the BBC website has locked their UK content so we can't watch videos for certain shows in the US.

Check your local PBS listings - in the Dayton area anyway, the first Inspector Lewis episode is on again.

I really like the original BBC series 'Life on Mars'.
The USA version was good too, but not as good as the original!
