HTC Touch/Sprint?

I'm thinking of replacing my current cell phone.

I've been with Sprint all along - since I got my first phone my Freshman year of HS, and then when I was a Sprint rep when I worked in a Best Buy store in HS... needless to say, I am not at all interested in changing providers.

I like the iPhone... sort of. As an Apple Tech and Apple fanboy, I have had a good amount of experience with them, but since it's not CDMA, no chance in hell Sprint will ever get it.

I currently have a Moto Razr V3M+GPS. I really like it - it has some quirks, but I deal with them. After 2 recent botched over the air software upgrades and 1.75 years of use, it has become demon possessed. Random vibrations, ring tones that change themselves, ringing loudly even when on silent, random freezes, screen artifacting - it is on its way out... and using it can be an adventure. It's only been dropped 2 times since I have had it, both of them onto a tile floor - it lives a relatively coddled life. A factory software restore doesn't solve the problems - so I surmise it is partially hardware - especially because of the artifacting (and I am using this as an excuse to get a new phone).

I'm having a hard time deciding between the HTC Touch and the Blackberry Curve. I don't know how living without tactile input would go on the Touch, but I really hate the trackball on the Blackberry. I do use my phone for email quite a bit, but I also like to browse the web... so that's a wash. I love to tinker and customize, so I think Windows Mobile wins there.

Does anyone here have experience with the HTC Touch - good or bad?

What about the Blackberry Curve? I have quite a few of them in use at work, so I know the basic caveats of it, but in everyday life is it a good choice?

I've got the Sprint (HTC) Mogul, and I've really enjoyed it. Much like the Touch (without the oversized icons, which means you have to use the stylus or your pinkie to select screen objects), the Mogul has the big screen, it's EVDO (Rev. A and GPS-enabling upgrade to be available any day now). I frequently use it to connect my laptop to Sprint when I'm away from wifi hotspots, as I increasingly have become a digital nomad, logging in and doing my job from any location I happen to find myself.

My biggest gripe with the Mogul is battery life. When I go to sleep, it has to go on the charger. My Palm Treo 700 went days at a time on a single charge, as long as it wasn't used too heavily for calls. The Mogul has about 24 good hours in him with my normal use pattern. Fortunately, the Mogul can recharge from any handy USB port, where my Treo required its charger.

The other thing to consider is the new Samsung that Sprint is carrying (about to carry)? It looks like an iPhoneClone.

I have a Touch with Sprint - and am very happy with it. I've put a 3-outlet 12V extension in my smart right under the glovebox as far back as it will go. I use my Touch as a gps system (with iGuidance) and use a BlueAnt Supertooth car speaker system with the phone. I keep my xm radio and phone plugged in all the time and the third outlet can be used for either the bt car speaker or the bt gps receiver, depending on which one needs juice (though they both hold a charge for weeks). I tried a bunch of different mounts for my phone, but because I have the cab and usually have the top down the glare is terrible if the phone is up too high. It works great for me just stuck in the cup holder. I can see the screen and map just fine down there, and with speech turn by turn I don't really look at it much anyway.

That's probably more than you ever wanted to know.

This is all perfect

My biggest gripe with my Razr is the battery life. As soon as it drops down to 2 bars, its time to start sourcing a USB port or one of my myriad of chargers - it takes nothing for it to go to 1 bar, at which point 15 minutes later it will be crying. It's been like this from day 1.

A friend of mine just got the Mogul. I have looked at it a bit - the main thing that detracted from it for me was the thickness (I like thin phones... my first phone was a Qualcomm QCP-2760 ThinPhone... image below)

I also have thought about the new Samsung - I have been reading about it on Engadget, but it also looks to be quite sizable. I'll have to take a look at one when I get in the store.

Shureka - sounds great! Have you had any Bluetooth issues with the Touch? I had an LG PM-325 egg/slide phone with bluetooth before the Razr that I loved (until the 0 key died). The bluetooth was horrible on it in comparison to the Razr though - bad range and always full of static.

Thanks for the replies!
