A Janesville man is accused of driving drunk with a child in his lap and two children in the backseat this morning.
Julius R. Juniel, 24, of 613 Center Ave., was arrested on a charge of drunken driving with passengers under 16.
Department of Natural Resources Warden Mike Dieckhoff saw Juniel in the vehicle at Linn Street and Rockport Road, Janesville, with a child in his lap at about 10 a.m., according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department. He followed the vehicle to Juniel's home and saw that the 8-year-old child was steering, the release says. Dieckhoff called Janesville police for assistance.
Juniel also had a 6-year-old and 2-year-old in the backseat, the release says. He had a blood alcohol level of 0.24, three times the legal limit, the release says.
After the arrest was processed, Juniel was released to a responsible party, according to the release.
OK, first off, thanks to the DNR for doing the job of the police. You don't mess with DNR Wardens.
Second, "Juniel was released to a responsible party"
This just shows that Wi culture about drunk driving is just to tolerant. This man put 3 kids in danger in his car alone.
From the silence I take it people here like drunk drivers. I'm the first person in 6 hours to even post. Drunk driving is just wrong, even wronger with kids on board.
I agree, but alcohol is such and accepted part of the American culture that you will not get outrage until it hits closer to home. Hope that it does not
0.24 is sloppy drunk, doesn't matter what state you're in. I'm not familiar with Wisconsin's DUI laws. In Florida, it is black and white. The legal limit is 0.08, and at the officer's discretion, "under the influence" may be lower than 0.08.
I resolve to quit these hyperverbose comments. Sorry.

Reason: blah
Give the DNR guy a break. He's a game warden, and likely not trained in DUI arrests or apprehension. The release came from the police, who the DNR guy called. It gets a wee bit complicated when you are responding to such a complaint, and the vehicle is parked and unoccupied when you arrive. He got dinged for the DUI...... the system worked.
