Labor Day Weekend......

Hope you all have a safe Holiday Weekend.

Just curious, what does Labor Day mean to you and what plans do you all have?

For me, Labor Day Weekend means AVOIDING WORK AT ALL COSTS!

Time to 'un-labor' yourself, kick back and enjoy nice weather, your family, good friends, good food and of course........YOUR SMART!

To me, Labor day is usually an extra day off work to get things done, or to combine with some other time off and get some travel in.

I'm just kicking around this weekend - dinner and drinks with friends in the evenings, the smart gets its weekly bath on Sunday, and I'm probably going to tool around DC on Monday.

My smart will sit in my driveway untouched for the next three days. (did I just hear a collective gasp ? ) I drive it everyday for work, and average 120+ miles per day, I don't feel the "need" to take it on joy rides.

This weekend will be spend riding my sidecar motorcycle, weather permitting.

I feel the need for the bike !!

For me Labor Day weekend means a sunny day at Illinois Beach State Park...

Now that I say it, I should be leaving right about now...

Road Trip!!!

I put in 8 hours today, no long weekend for me. Unless you consider most weekends are one day and this weekend I get two.

I'm considering a drive to look up a long lost friend tomorrow. It's a 250 mile round trip. I can't find a telephone number and I'm not 100% sure of the address. Hope I don't get shot!

I can see it now. "That sure is a pretty little car yur drivin'." Anywhere we should look in particular if you go missing? This morning I gave my hick neighbor a light wave as I drove by as he was working on his truck that really is up on cinder blocks in the front yard. My radio was on volume setting 12 as I drove by at about 15mph. He yelled "quiet!!" as I passed. Now this is the same guy that his family cut donuts on the dirt road cutting 8 inch deep ruts as well as doing about 80mph down a 25mph road too. We don't get along as I have called the cops on his people for their shenanigans....which there are many things they've done.

PS - You stole my avatar.

Neon - Illinois and Beach don't go together. You should see our snow white beaches we have down here that only a coke addict can appreciate as well as our emerald green water.

Illinois and Beach only fit together when the body of water is Lake Michigan!

My next beach goal:

Florida Coast!!!

Swimming is best in the evening around 6:00pm around dusk. Everyone else has left the beach and you have it almost to yourself.

OK, don't do that. It's feeding time. We occasionally lose a tourist here and there because they do what I said above. Don't pet the SHARKS!
