My Trip to Montreal...

I am going to post this thread in the "off-topic" section cause there was someone that b-i-t-c-h-e-d about the fact that I 'shared' something personnal into a different area of the forum *insert rolling eye emoticon here*, so to keep everyone happy, here I am

My trip was pretty good - other than the fact that I was going to Montreal from portsmouth NH *seacoast* to attend my father's funeral. My little smartie performed sooooo well. I was totally in shock at how easy going "keppy" was into the torrential rains I gotten myself into midway through Vermont. It rained HARD... Flash floods here and there, all you could see was a "freeway of running rivers" undermeath me. I was actually scared!!! Keppy never skid, always was strong and the cabriolet never leaked a drop.
My trip was 6 1/2 hours and I only stopped for gas once right before the border.
for 13 hours of driving, it costed me a whopping $61.76 and I averaged 43mpg. Not bad eh? ;)

I had mixed reactions from passing people on the freeway, I had many smiles and 2 of them flipped me the bird elegantly... I donno why they did, cause I was in the slow lane and doing about 65-70. I guess they just didnt understand the "smart" since the were driving fords F-350 ( them 2 drove the same truck! ) and had gun racks in the back... I ignored them cause I didnt want to be "shot" lol...

It felt really good to drive my smart - I love it even more now. She took me there safely, cheaply, with a great deal of fun... She has learned a lot about myself, I talked to her all the way there and back... My secrets are safe with her.

I am so glad I bought a smart - for once I feel like one!

Sorry to hear of the passing of your father. Be strong as time will help heal. Glad to hear you had a safe trip. For those that have nothing better to do than complain as to the content of one's post... They should just go uninate into a strong head wind.

Hi Amytheste -

My heart is with you, having witnessed my own father's death just 2 weeks ago. It's a difficult time for a daughter, so I'm sending some sister-love your way.

Gald to hear that little smartie is giving you some joy thee days. For me, it's been really important to find balance, and my lil monster is always a smile maker.

Cheers!

Suze

Exactly. They didn't understand or care to understand. F-350 with a gun rack... there are a hundred stereotypical things I could say about that, but to summarize, they had more interest in declaring their superior size and brawn than in your personal choice to drive something smaller. If they'd known your father just passed away, they still wouldn't respect you; that's just in their nature.

I live in Alabama and see a thousand of those a week. If they laugh at me, that's fine... they're obviously happy with their truck and gun rack. I have no intention of bagging a 31-point buck and hauling it with my smart. Or hauling 3 tons of concrete... I leave that to them and write the software that makes sure they get paid.

What I find cool, though, is for each of the big strutting peacocks in an F350, I'll find 20 other F350 owners that say, "hey, now that's not a bad little car." I've already influenced 500 people to think about their driving habits. Sorry, Exxon, it's in my nature.

Guess there's always got to be at least one in the crowd that's unhappy and has to beeitch about something.

Sorry to hear about your Father. At least you had your smartie to keep you company on the long drive.

THank you all for your kind wishes... In all honesty, I am glad he is resting in peace now without suffering... I am sure if he was alive and well ( with his mind cause he suffered Alzheimers for 15 years ) he'd have a kick out of the smart...

love you guys...
