Pat Buchanan
I'm a Democrat, near center due to some conservative views. I have watched Pat as a panel member on MSNBC for the past few years. The viewing has removed some of my earlier distaste for the man. Even though I still disagree with him on most important issues ... he is absolutely correct when he slams the Democrats for NOT being more aggressive in their attacks against Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rove. Watching the convention, I am dismayed at the whamby pamby whimpy speeches I'm hearing. I even include Joe Biden in my criticism, and I LIKE Biden! These jokers are not presenting their case at all, and Buchanan agrees with me. My hat is off to him for being so objective, in spite of his personal convictions. He sees how severely the Democrats wish to lose, apparently.
Fortuneately for the Dems, they will probably prevail this time, just because of the astoundingly incompetent, hypocritical legacy of W, and the amazingly obtuse McBush (McCain), who's campaign fails to recognize that mainstream Conservatives reject the foolhardy ways of Bush.
I'm a Democrat, who is extremely disappointed in what I've seen so far (3rd of 4 nights) from the 2008 Democratic Convention. I am especially disappointed by the performance of the VP Nominee, because I expected MUCH more frorm him tonight.
Someone posted the T. Boone Pickens plan in Off Topic Cafe. Flame away.
EDIT: Even though this is the Off Topic Cafe, I've been informed that this post is taboo. Oh well. That's childish. Delete the post moderator.

Biden did a double-take when he saw my smart in the Wilmington, Delaware St Patrick's Day Parade. He smiled and pointed.
His mission is Pennsylvania-and VP debate-and foreign policy
Florida (US Supreme Court) was the mother of all disappointments
There are times when it seems we would all benefit from Blue state governing, and Red state governing (divided nation)

I just wish I would of heard more of what they want to do instead of what they think McCain is going to do to us. "Be thankful we're not getting all the government we're paying for." - Will Rogers
"Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first." - Ronald Reagan

Frankly, the fear of a McBush administration is a pretty darn good reason to vote for the opposition. This isn't politics "as usual". This is the survival of this country. Ya know, they don't last forever. We wouldn't be the first citizens to live through a downfall.

I'm with you in that I'm tired of having to vote for someone because they suck less that someone else. We have become the nation of the lowest common denominator. Lack luster leaders in Washington who continue to be re-elected because of the pork projects and entitlements they legislate their constituents every year. It's a shame!!! What will my Government give me this year and let the other guy pay for it!
Always wanted to spend that 2 cents...

The fundamental principle of the democratic party is robbery, for the redistribution of wealth. The republican party are also robbers, but given complete discretion they would likely rob individuals considerably less than the democrats, since they ostensibly favour minimising the vast, unsustainable social programmes that consume the majority of government revenue. Neither party is at all consistent with the founding principles of the country, though the democratic party is the worst on this measure because its tax and redistribution policies do more harm to individual rights—after all, one’s wealth is life itself, and the robbery of it is a theft and destruction of life.
A divided nation, as mentioned above (and which would exist to-day had the war of secession concluded differently) would make for an interesting demonstration of the practical as well as moral failure of socialism. Most productive individuals and enterprises would move to the conservative/Libertarian part. But since there would be few if any provisions for parasites there, the unproductive would have to move to the liberal part—which would have insufficient production of value to support the leeches, and which would thus suffer an economic collapse.
No human has the right to live as a parasite. Those who still care about the principles of individual Liberty on which the country was founded should consider supporting the Libertarian Party and voting for their presidential candidate, or write in Ron Paul on the ballot.
