Wife has a Mac (new with Leopard) and I have a PC (one of many and built by me). The Mac has locked up and swallowed CD's (where only a reboot will get it to see it) more times in the past month than my XP running PC has done in 2 years. I'll take the PC.

By the way, what numbskull thought that making a CD drive where you can't open it without taking the computer apart is a good idea? Yep that IMAC sure looks pretty sitting there on the desk. I guess as a semi functional table decoration they aren't too bad.

I have had the same issue with my PC loosing hardware for no apparent reason on XP before. Especially my HP Printer and DVD Burner. It keeps thinking my DVD Burner is just a standard CD-Rom.

Macs for 15 years. No problems. No reboots for months at a time. PC workstation at work for CAD (and XP Pro in BootCamp on the Mac for a home use CAD license.)

This pic always weirds people out. ;)

Mac vs PC discussion on forums tend to get mean and turn to name calling. I'm no maniacal Mac user. They just do what I want so that's what I use.

Actually, no-door CD-ROMS have been standard on laptops for years.

Mac's are my favorite. I work in the Graphics field, so they have been my standard from the start. We have a PC and have had several over the years, but I still prefer the way the Mac operates. Like others have siad, I rarely have to reboot, never have to manage my disk space....just get on and go.

Oh yeah, when you're on a Mac you just delete all of those dire warnings about viruses. Having had a teen that downloaded everything in sight, and having had to sit on the phone with some tech in India, (or wherever for hours at a time) to rebuild the PC, THIS is very important.
