OK kids, just 3 more days before I shoot my latest color on my panels. I am giving up one of my smarts to my daughter in trade for her Yaris.

Question is....

The wheels will be gloss black. Should I do a pinstripe the body color near the edge of the rim or should I have a pinstripe on each spoke on the rim? Leaning towards the edge of the rim, but am still unsure. I'll also be doing the headlights black w/body color trim in there too. The car has a black tridion and the exterior WILL NOT be matching the interior color very well, however it will be a somewhat pleasant clash.

Is it the teal car? And the interior is red? Well, that will go fine with your new pink! And I say the more pink details, the better.


Nah, seriously, I think do just the rim and give us a look and maybe a poll. (And J/K about the PINK)

I agree with you....I would go with the pinstripe on the rim of the wheels. Maybe have lug nut covers in the same color if possible.

Can't wait to see the new color, PINK or not!

The pinstripe at the edge of the rim will remain visible at speed, whereas the spokes will become a slightly colored blur...

Yes Suze. It is the teal one I have decided to give her. Not happy as that was my special ordered car but I can add everything I didn't order on my orphan.

The pink "should" be the same color as yours. Now that I am looking at yours I will do the grille surround in a color close to your, most likely I'll take some extra white and mix a little pink in with it to get a light pink for "lips". I need to talk to her and see if that is what she wants. The car will have color coordinated door handles, skirts, gas door and mirror caps. I'll trim the interior out a little later as I get time (before the 24th). In the end, this car will "look" more custom than mine. Mine has a lot of things not visible.

Jwight, the reason you mentioned is one reason I thought about NOT painting the spokes. If I do a pinstripe around the edge it will look more professional IMO. No blur while driving.

Does this mean your daughter is not afraid of the attention the smart will give here. And with a custom color its going to be even more attention. Or did she decide she is not getting enough attention in the Yaris, or is she tired of always being the one her 3 friends go to for a ride.

Not anymore, her boyfriend/fiance seems to be a bit like me and likes to make waves. The fact that he will quite possibly be driving the car at some point in the future "if" they happen to run away and get married. He's military and seems to have a sense of humor similar to mine which means he WANTS to get out of a pink car in uniform just to mess with people. Pretty much the same reason I will drive it for a few weeks before I hand the reins over to her.
