Inspired by the posts on the SMART wreck on Jalopnik Thread!!
After being in Callifornia since the 1st of the month, I've decided I really miss my smart. I filled the Jeep Liberty with gas the other day and it cost me $52.00!!
That is nothing compared to my mom filling up her expedition, which clocks in at almost $90!!! Beat that!
I like this thread. I can babble incoherently and people ignore me. Just like Real Life.
Guys: Is it just me? Among my female acquaintances, it seems the sound of my voice is a trigger for them to start talking. As in, "I already know what he's going to say", or maybe, "Whatever he has to say isn't important"? Or perhaps it is just me. Maybe there's a quality in my voice which makes people (both genders) feel that I'm background, like a voice on the radio. Or, maybe they're right.
I love this movie. One of my favorites. BUT ...
#1 the asteroid would only be visible in the sky for a second, not a minute.
#2 anyone unfortunate enough to witness the entry wouldn't have to worry about tsunami, they'd be crispy fried before that by radiant heat.
Still, several orders of magnitude better than its contemporary, "Armageddon".
I haven't been on AOL since 1998. Anyone else remember AOL BEFORE unlimited access? I was like a crack addict at first. My first two months' combined bill was something like $800. Then, I learned to cheat the system. And, a decade later, don't even miss it.
AOL was a better experience before unlimited access. When people had to pay for their online time, there was a generally higher quality of experience. Which is why I dumped them not too long after they let the gates open to every yahoo.
Now, I hear there's a free AOL. Don't know, don't care.
My first computer had 8MB ram. Windows 3.1. It had a modem.. but I don't even think it hit 33kbps...
Yeah I know you older lot had it by the KB and 300 baud modems and BBS... I'm just talking about me.
Under ideal conditions, you can see it from Tampa? That would be neat! Panama City is too distant. I hope to witness another before the program is retired. Let us know if you spot it. Only minutes away, assuming they get it off on time.
I don't have NASA TV, but it's on their web site too!
For me, it seems a sad statement that the launches don't receive full coverage on the networks and cable news outlets.
You know that Panama City isn't really IN Florida, right? You're really in Alabama, but they wanted a 'buffer' on the Gulf in case a hurricane came, so the let Florida claim it. "REAL" Florida is everything SOUTH of the panhandle.......
Oh 'jet', I've been fortunate enough to see a couple shuttle launches, although they were years ago. The last one was when we were traveling east on I think it was I-4, when all of a sudden ALL THE TRAFFIC PULLED OFF THE ROAD. We thought there was an ambulance or something coming so we did too, but then everyone got out of their cars and started looking east and there it was! WOW!!! It was simply AWESOME!!!!
