SCOA slowly dieing?

I know I haven't posted myself hardly in months so likely most people don't even know me. I've was just thinking how we've lost some big members in the last few months: rolly, Big Panda. puppeto, NCC1701. The sellout of the site to a for profit forum company hasn't helped either. It seems like the fire is fading this site. I remember when it was fun to sit here for hours and now not so much. I've been too busy at work as they're purposely giving us no time between calls now (overworking us) so my time to surf well is gone. I come home dead and last thing I think about is the site. It just seems from my peeping here and there as I can we've lost many main people. I may just be nostalgic but a year ago at this time things seems to be more lively.

P.S. Just signed up for 3 more years SOCA club membership so not going anywhere.

Folks come and folks go. We have had a lot of new folks joining in lately as well.

What has become less active is the off topic areas, so some of those folks from the past that wined about them should be happy now.

Go out and rant and whine and have a random thought once in a while. When you feel that way, go ahead and post those thoughts in the appropriate areas.

I think your comments about work should have been posted here

It is very common for sites to go up and down in their memberships as the year goes on. Some members get pulled to other activities, new ones join, What comes around, goes around...

I think it is just dying for you. Just like forest said, people come, people go. Seems like you are just working more. Locally the weather is perfect so most people in their right mind won't be inside posting.

It may be tapering off a little, but not dying.

Seem I remember you said in NCC1701 thread you may be slacking off on coming by too in the future. I'm not around much so like I said to me it looks like things are going down hill but you guys know better. I'm looking if I post at all now.

I'll be slacking off only because of a life choice, it won't be because I'll be jumping ship. We'll see when the time comes. I can honestly say I "might" be slacking off more soon since my wife finally got her employer to cut her hours meaning I will get home during daylight which means I'll have more garage time.

Fred... While I would agree that the shiny gleam has somewhat worn off, I think it's to be somewhat expected with the declining sales for smart. Also, I agree that alot of us have had work changes which have cut our time here significantly.

That being said, of the member loses you list, 2 traded in their smart for practical purposes and a third stated he was leaving to concentrate on quiting smoking(fantastic reason!! ). Many of us are still trying to figure out what BP's real issue for leaving was... repeated requests from multiple people when unanswered. He insinuated that it had to do with the sale of the site but never once clarified his actual issues. Love the guy to death but we can't help if we don't know what's wrong....

While the sale of the site caught everyone off guard(including the mods), To my knowledge there have been no real downsides and quite a few positives so far... time will tell but so far the new owners have been receptive to requests and have made changes where it made since to do so.

Not knitpicking... just wanting all the facts in play. Like I said, I agree that we've hit a plateau but this is still the dominant site for our community of owners.

And since the Mods do such a good job of keeping this place spam free, It still is a lot nicer place to hang out than the alternatives

Insider site getting spammed. I keep seeing you in that sites chat saying it's spam free.

I for one was not aware the site had been sold.

Not that it matters to me.
