Iron Man was probably one of the two best superhero flicks ever (the second being Batman Begins). It was also financed totally my Marvel, which means that they weren't beholding to anyone who would have screwed it up. From what I understand, John Favreau's roadster is the car that Tony Stark is working on in the movie (mmmMMMmmm flathead Fords...).
Speed Racer ... Well, if you have to see it, don't. It was terrible. It was worse than terrible. It was - obviously - made by people who don't appreciate or understand the subject they're messin' with.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall was good. It has full frontal male nudity. I recommend it because it's good, not because of the other ... thing.
Forbidden Kingdom was certainly one of the better martial arts flicks I've seen recently (and, having a 16 year old who is convinced he's a ninja or has mad skilz when it comes to martial arts, I have seen every crapfest that's come down the Yangtze), and worth a look, if you're into kung fu flicks. It's well done.
CoN Prince Caspian ... meh. It was okay. Lots of special effects. Tons of CGI.
In my opinion, CGI shouldn't ever replace story. Unfortunately, it seems that some directors think that if they throw enough CGI into the mix nobody will notice that the acting was terrible, the story was a POS, and that everyone will tell their friends about how good the movie was. For those directors who believe that boobs and bombs sell a movie: Die Hard. True Lies. Iron Man. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Great STORIES. Excellent ACTING.
I'm looking forward to Indiana Jones, You Don't Mess With The Zohan (please, be good Adam, please), Get Smart (please don't be the next Speed Racer...), Wall-E, Hancock, Hellboy II, the Dark Knight, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Tropic Thunder (although I really don't hold out much hope for it...).
Your pal,
Meat.
