I have a Marlin .450. Anyone ever shoot one of these? It's like a punch from Mike Tyson!

Here in the Great US of A - we are CIVILIZED, not CIVILISED. Actually we are all gun toten Wild West shoot em up kind of people. NOT! (but it does happen to be a stereotype people that aren't American have of us)

Owning a gun is a freedom we are afforded here. Unfortunately, many gun owners here in the US shouldn't have any caliber larger than a BB gun simply because they don't have the mental capacity. You know, the nuts that shoot up their work, shopping centers etc. (Oh, you can put an eye out with a BB gun ).

Things that make you go hmmm. You and Okiesmrt are both from Oklahoma I see - and Oklahoma ranks 38th out of the 50 states in crimes per capita. Of course I live in Arizona, which has the loosest concealed carry rules in the country and everybody carries a gun. It ranks 49th out of 51. - sheureka

Anyone ever see the episode of the FX show with Morgan Spurlock called "30 Days" titled gun nation, where an Anti gun advocate travels to Ohio to spend ......wait for it.........30DAYS with a gun toting, gun loving family of an ex-Marine and his young son.
During the show she was shown many many many different reasons why 1.It's important to be ABLE to carry if one chooses. and 2. That legal guns in the hands of regular citizens who have trained themselves in proper gun use and care have saved lives. She came to understand that not just military and the police should have guns, and the Man and his son agreed that closing the Gunshow loophole would be beneficial. PS. Shooting a 50 Cal sniper rifle has got to be one of the coolest experiences with guns I've ever had. So much was covered in those 30 days that it could have made 10 episodes on just that subject.... Maybe one day FX will edit all of the footage and make a 6 or 10 part DVD set. I believe it would be a fascinating viewing. Both sides of the issues were discussed in GREAT detail over hundreds of Hours!. Believe me I taped all of it.

To get to the shooting range, of course. You expect me to walk, maybe?

EDIT: In serious answer to your statement, many Americans who enjoy the shooting sports are required by the laws of the jurisdictions they live in to obtain a concealed-pistol license in order to legally transport firearms in a car like the Fortwo (including the State of Michigan, where I reside). Many States' gun-transport laws dictate that the firearm must be secured in the trunk or other non-accessible location in the vehicle, unless you hold a CPL. When I'm toting my pistol box to the range in either my pickup truck or my Cabrio, the box is inside the passenger compartment, so if I did not hold a CPL I would be in violation of the law.
