I see, you posted this two years ago! Have you purchased one or more?
Here is the information you will need to purchase the photovoltaic tree, if you haven`t already. They are quite expensive though.

Designed to resemble a bouquet of flowers, the petals are lined with LED bulbs and photovoltaic cells. During the day the flower absorbs energy to recharge a battery pack which illuminates the LED bulbs at dusk.

The Solar Trees created by Ross Lovegrove, was developed and produced by Artemide in collaboration with Sharp Solar. The solar trees have been on tour in cities across Europe and make their next stop in Venice at the Biennale dell’ Architettura.

Why would you say, photovoltaics is old technology for leds?
My home ls completely lighted by leds, has been for 4 years now. If electric power is interrupted here, we have no problem. About 3 years ago, a hurricane came through here. I can`t recall the name of the hurricane but it knocked out power for 6 days! However, we had power though.

What I'm saying is LED Technology has increased 4 Times in the past two years. And I have seen a lot of BAD Led Street/Area lights over the past two year. I am just now starting to see a few that come close to MH Lamps in Lumens per Watt. And the better ones are rethinking the way we distribute light

Yes, I agree with you. I have updated my leds several times now, just to keep up with the technology.
More lumens per watt. We have over 600 leds total, supplying needed light in our home. What is nice is, the lighting is off the power grid! There is a bulb, called a plasma bulb, Google it. More efficient than leds. The manfacturer claims the bulb is the size of an led, around 10mm, that is brighter than a street light! I`m going to request a couple of samples. As I stated, Google, PLASMA BULB.

I think one would have to build their own LED trees, but here's a company that can offer you the LED lights...

LEDtronics.com - LED, LED Bulb, Light Bulbs, Lamp, Street Light, Energy Saving Lighting, Green Lighting Products

I am familiar with LED TRONICS. They requested imgges of our led home lighting. I also purchased a product from them.

For straight replacement resi stuff I like Array from Nexxis

That Plasma first hit the lighting world 2 years ago. It has existed for a while as a source for the rear screen projection TV's. When those went out of favor they decided to hit the lighting market to keep the product alive.

It has some heat issues for a rezy market. But for street lighting, or Canopy lighting it is great. It is also a great replacement for Moving heads for stage lighting. I took a rental house guy over to see it at lightfair in Vegas a year and a 1/2 a go and he was drooling all over it. The standard lamps he ueses were only 250hr lamps
