Since we were on a peanut butter kick, here goes my fav since I was a kid:
"Peanut Butter and Syrup"
Slice of Bread (your choice)
Butter (Real preferred)
Peanut Butter (Jiff preferred)
Syrup (Log Cabin if store-bought OR 'sugar water' syrup if homemade, which is preferred)
First, spread the Real Butter on the slice of bread...THICK. Then a THICK layer of Peanut Butter. To make your 'sugar water homemade syrup', put some sugar in a pan and put just enough water in the pan to cover the sugar. Stir constantly and bring to a boil. Remove from heat.
Then pour your homemade HOT syrup on your slice of bread with the Peanut Butter and COLD Real Butter on it.
The combination of the salty, peanut taste, the cold butter and hot sweet syrup is great, especially if you chase it with a glass of COLD MILK!
Got me through many cold Indiana winters and I still indulge myself from time to time.....just don't tell the wife!
Now that I've thought about it, I think I'll have some for breakfast in the AM!!!!
