Vegan smart car owners.....

.......YES? NO? Just wanted to know if anyone out there is a Vegan or a variation thereof?

The wife and I are converting. We've already converted from eggs to EggBeaters. Pretty decent. Bought some Silk soy milk and I can deal with that. Next we are weening ourselves off meat until all the meat is gone in the fridge. We've already been checking out some of the alternative 'meat' products....burgers, sausage links and Italian sausage. NOT BAD! We love salads so that's no problem.

The problem I see is CHEESE.....we love CHEESE! What do you guys do for cheese? We need some suggestions, please.

Panda, I was an ovo-lacto vegetarian for 12 years. The diet includes non-fertilized eggs and dairy products (cheese!!!). I was never into the soy meat products. Well, I've sampled a few of them since I've returned to an omnivore diet. The hot dogs are inedible! But, since I wasn't a vegetarian for health reasons, I didn't feel any desire for them. Good choice, whatever your reason. I should one day return.

BTW, I thought you'd been a vegan all along. I mean, isn't bamboo a plant product?

Why, BP? Is this for health reasons, budget or concern for the animals?

Just asking...

I quit dairy completely at the first of June as I had a cough/congestion thingie that wouldn't go away. Now I'm slowly starting to re-introduce some dairy products (like fat-free tapioca pudding and tillamook sharp cheddar). I never could stand soy type milk substitutes - rather do without.

I have to agree with him...sadly

I love the meat but I don't like the way it gets to me...

Neon...might become a vegan someday...already tried soy...not bad!

Thousands and thousands of hectares of equatorial rain forest have been sliced and diced for non-native soybean farming.

Just saying...

Might be a fact, although I've never read it. I'm just saying, soy beans are used for FAR more things than fake meat. I'm quite certain that constitutes a tiny fraction of their use.
