I've noticed a few plane enthusiasts on here, so here are a few piccies for you to see just how much of an enthusiast you are.
I took these today Saturday 29th August, I was at a Western Performance show in Warwickshire, England, and I heard the roar that I recognised from years ago, I was at the Finningley Air show for the last ever flight of this plane before it was mothballed, so was really surprised to see it in the air, when I got home I googled it and it has been restored at a cost of millions and it is supposed to be at an airshow tomorrow, so it must have been on a trial flight today, so what a treat to see it fly overhead just a few hundred feet up. It is the only flying example in the world!
So, What is it?
I'll do it so it gets easier to see as you scroll down.
OFFS, that was quick, I thought it might take a bit longer than that, well done, spelling is a bit iffy but you are correct, it is the Avro Vulcan XH558, the only flying Vulcan in the world and it is rumoured it is going to open the London 2012 Olympics with a flypast.

I know, it really made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, probably would'nt mean a lot to most people, they would'nt realise the significance of it, I get the same feeling when I see a Spitfire or a Lancaster Bomber fly past, this is how I looked today
Great to see it back in the air. The Vulcans used to be all over the UK air shows in the 70s and for a while it looked like they were gone for good. Lots of money and effort went into getting this one back on flying status. Thanks for the photos!
PS: if you can find a copy, Vulcan 607 is a book about the Vulcan raid on the Falkland Islands in the 1982 war - nonstop from Ascension Island.

Thanks for that, I will look it up, I know they used the Vulcan in anger in the Falklands, it must have put the fear of god into the Argies.
It's party piece at air shows is to fly past at low level then open the taps and go vertical, well almost vertical, but you get the loudest engine noise I have ever heard, the whole ground shakes, and so do you.
