Since I'm getting up there in my years and there's no equivalent to "Murder She Wrote" or "Matlock", the best I can do are old stand-bys such as "Law & Order" (all of them) and "C.S.I. whatever" (all of them too).
But in addition to "Leverage", I too like "The Mentalist" and also "Eleventh Hour" on CBS. Funny, most network shows I like are on CBS.
We're really sports fanatics, so we only watch a lot of shows when there's no sports going on, such as this time of year. NBA and the NFL playoffs are about it.
Looking forward to seeing another new show on TNT called "Trust Me" with Tom Cavanaugh and Eric McCormick as brothers in business together. That might be fun too.....
Im with Suze. I dont watch much network television. We hate most reality TV the most, but even network shows like Eli Stone and Desperate Housewifes (had to sit through an episode at the in-law's) are IMHO nothing more than evening soaps. We will watch Kitchen nightmares and Hell's Kitchen (Both US and UK versions) and we like most of it, but the drama gets on our nerves.
Thank God for Cable.
If we wanted to watch reality, we would not pay for cable.
With many new TV shows appearing for the first time 'this season' (wonder when the 'season' changed?), I was wondering what everyone thought of some of the new shows?
Do you recommend we watch any OR do you recommend we don't look or we'll be turned to stone ?
My favorite new show is "Leverage" on TNT with Timothy Hutton. Keeps your attention and there's always a 'twist' at the end so that their mission is accomplished.
Anyone else??????
I too like that one! I like all the "who done it" shows. Glad I have my DVR so I can watch one and record the other to watch "commercial free" later

Jimminy! I'm so out of touch, I've seen only a very few of the shows y'all mentioned, past or new. Without researching it, I wouldn't know if a network show was new this season ... or three seasons ago.
Old enough to remember when network was all there was, and in my town, only ONE of them.
I agree with jwigt on Homicide. Also early NYPD Blue and the old, old Hill Street Blues. Also have loved all the Law & Order versions forever. I love crime. Do you ever watch the Crime and Investigation channel? It used to be Court TV. I could watch hours upon hours of that stuff.
OK, who will be brave enough to confess their shameful tv habits? I'll go first:
I'm a total American Idol fan. Not for the music, which I think sucks in most cases, but the drama is fantastic.
This season's pick is The Mentalist and Eleventh Hour [adapted from BBC]
Last season's winner for me was Pushing Daisies-the ultra-style neo-retro feel of the show was great escapism
Ongoing-Don't forget The Tudors on SHO, Monk and Psych on USA, NCIS on CBS, Dr Who on SciFi and BBC-A.
Lost lost me in season 3, because you shouldn't have to keep notes to figure out what the heck the plotline is.

Project Runway and Top Chef...nothing better than some hyperactive egocentric primadonnas having meltdowns over irrelevant "crises" during a competition about high fashion and high end cuisine, like those things are really important, especially these days...
