White Balance on Digital Cameras for smart photos!
This may be REALLY "Off Topic", but I keep seeing quite a few photos here where it's obvious that the white balance on the camera was set to something other than the correct setting. That's why when you take a picture of your new smart fortwo, and the colors are ALL wrong....e.g. the streets are magenta instead of gray, etc. Check to make sure that your white balance on your camera is either set to AUTO, or to the correct setting, outdoor sun/cloudy/shade, etc. It will make your wonderul, new little smart look truly wonderful, and do you want it to look any other way??? I'm NOT trying to be a smart***, either! As someone who used to work in a photo shop, I know that there are a lot of up-and-coming photographers out there, especially with digital, that will look at their photos of their new smarts and not understand what they did wrong to make it look so muddy, yucky, and miscolored!!
Good comment - thanks! The other problem I see is underexposed photos, usually because of backlighting. Auto exposure on most digital cameras is certainly better than it used to be, but it still responds to a lot of light in the background by underexposing. Either move the camera or use exposure compensation to add some light. The great thing about digital is you see instant results, so you can make on-the-spot corrections.
Ha-ha! Now we know the connection. I've a "grey market" IXY. Love it. But, even at the size of a cigarette pack, not always at hand. The (i)Phone has to do, now and then. ;)
To add insult to injury: shortly after getting the IXY from xxxphoto in NYC, I went to... Japan!

LOL... You guys will probably find it funny that the one camera I rely on is my G9. I rarely use anything else. It has all the bells ans whistles the SLRs do, but has the point and shoot of the smaller cameras. Its a little heavier than the SD series, but still really nice.
Yea, I got rid of my camera phone and got, basically, one step above the Jitter Bug... LOL !!!

I have a Canon 40D SLR, but I find that the camera I grab most frequently is my Canon Powershot G2 (4.0 Meg) that my wife bought me for Christmas about 5 yrs. ago! Had a Digital Rebel and sold it to my cousin, and bought my 40D, which I really LOVE, but the G2 is just so convenient, I almost always grab it to take photos with!! My wife was worried when I bought the Digital Rebel that I would just toss the G2 aside and never use it, but...................... I AGREE about Canon cameras, though! As "Tony the Tiger" used to say...................THEY'RE G-R-E-A-T!!

Well, I can tell you it's a great company not only to work for, but also ethically. They are also investing here in the states, in Newport News, VA they already have a HUGE facility, over 600,000 sq ft. They just did a press release that they are adding another 700,000 sq ft to the building!!! When other companies are shipping these sorts of jobs over seas Canon is bringing them to the US. That and their call center has always been in Chesapeake, VA (never out sourced to India). Canon is also one of those rare companies that will admit a mistake an make it right. They truly put customer satisfaction first. They are also ISO 14001 compliant!
That is why my plate will/does say "KYOSEI" and it will be on the new VA plate "Drive Smart"
Canon is a truly responsible company that cares about it's employees and it's customer. They have learned when you put those two things first the bottom line takes care of itself...
