The light stalk key button methoD does work. With car off and no key in the ignition pull the light stalk back and within a second hit the lock or unlock button on your key FOB. You will hear a beep. Works on my 09 with the DRL option. It is a timing issue with the stalk and key FOB

Not exactly, the car had to come with DRL from factory or have had the software updated for DRL by dealer. The turning on and off is only if you have the feature to give you option to not use the DRL mode.

This sucks that you can't connect a programmer to the ODB-II port and make changes yourself.

This is not MICROSOFT! They need to open-source this stuff and let people change it the way they want.

That's one of the few good things about GM cars. You could re-program the stuff you want with a Hypertech Power Programmer... change the thermostat temperatures, gearing, tire size and a few other things.

YESSSSSS! It works!

It's all about the timing, needs to be almost simultaneous with the stalk and button. You know you got it right when you hear an electronic beep, if you hear the sound the alarm usually makes, you missed it.

Thank you redbluff -- I love car forums.

Before you waste your time on activating DRLs, consider the NHTSA's recent research results that show no reduction in collisions or other benefits from using DRLs. In the past, NHTSA has been a proponent of DRLs, so this admission is something of a bell-ringer. It also expressed concern that DRLs appear to be related to increases in both motorcycle and pedestrian fatalities.
