10,000 mile checkup

Just got my 10000 mile inspection and service. Cost as follows:

10,000 mile Maint. Service 170.00
Mobile 1 Oil 7.75
Washer Fluid 2.25
Oil Filter 12.60
Seal Ring 2.70
Combination Filter 39.88

Total with sales tax 278.79

I need to check and find out what a combination filter is. It is certainly cheaper than me Bimmer

My odometer is at 9.5K. If I drive to the smart center for service I've only got 200 miles before I begin my 2 or 3 day journey to Atlanta (requiring at least one non-paid workday off work).

My air filter has been changed already, and I think I can handle the cabin filter and oil change/filter. I just emailed Buckhead and told them pretty much the same things I've just stated here, asking them for a compelling reason for me to spend days and hundreds of dollars above and beyond what they're going to charge me. I even acknowledged the firmware update, and that I can live without it until a more convenient time.

Update: On 5/13 I made an appointment for 5/23 -- they're only open on Saturday every other week, and this wasn't the week. That'll put me slightly over 10K at arrival.
After sitting on the fence for weeks, decided I'd go, if only for the sake of the inspection. It's an overnighter. An irritation to add 6% to the odometer for a service appointment. BUT, I knew the distance when I decided to buy the car. Maybe I can find something entertaining to do in Atlanta on a Saturday night, without getting myself killed.

I'm honestly afraid of taking the car in for it's first service. The Laguna Niguel Smart Center/MB dealer really has a poor track record for me, including 3 botched oil changes. With my last MB, I got 4 years free service, I paid my mechanic to do the oil changes rather than take it there for the "free" maintenance. I certainly could do it myself but just too busy. Did any of you find it easy or hard to get MB independant mechanics to work on your Smart?

I'm at my dealer right now getting my 10,000 mile maintenance done. They say it will be $220 total.

that does seem high, I had it done last month for 160$ in the bay area, which is a $$ market

Just got an 08 with 7000 miles and 16 months old. Previous owner did an oil change himself at 5 k but didn't go to the dealer for a checkup. I just did another oil change to be safe at 7.5 k,and vacuumed the cabin filter (it looked clean). The dealer said he would do everything else for the 10k/1 yr service for $30-just come by anytime and it will be done in half an hour. Will let you know how it turns out.
That will be a 10k service for about $77-$85 (depending on the oil filter,and using the $16 Fram cabin filter) and about 15 min of my time . I can live with that.

Just to follow up on my last post. Took my car to the Portland, Or. dealer and for $30 and about half an hour the 10,000 mile inspection,sans oil and cabin filter, was done. They found water in the third brake light and replaced that at no charge. I'm very happy with the whole experience.

I took mine in this morning here in Portland and for full 10,000 mile service it was $150.
