As long as there is no service manual available, most repairs after warranty will leave us at the dealer's mercy. Perhaps the the term "Stealership" is warranted for some dealers after all .

It's time for Smart Corp to step in and cap these rising shop rates. A2Jack.

I spoke to the service manager in Bloomfield. He's discounting the cost. Hats off to him.

No Discount Bill,as Smart Corp has not established a price list as yet. Mark is a former Honda service manger and this is the going rate in our area, as well as other parts of the country. $139 is steep enough for 10k service. A2Jack.

Ask him. He charges less than his regular labor rates ($65 rather than his usual $100+) & he minimizes the amount of time he could charge for. He is committed to building a loyal customer base & it appears to be working.

Just had my smart and MB C300 in for their first oil changes. Smart cost $222, Mercedes cost $151... At least it's only once a year...

BTW - this is at Laguna Niguel MB.

I Happily Paid my $125 for my 10K service.
Oil and Filter Change, Check
Quick Inspection of breaks, Check
Cabin Filter replacement, Nope - Got an upgrade.
THis was news to me, the original was just a paper filter. The new Cabin filter was a much better with Charcoal. THe showed me the difference while he was changing it and it was a much beefyer filter.

Also got my 2.0 upgrade including new Battery.

+ the time I was able to pick his brain about other things was great.

Would I pay close to $300 for this service? Most Likely not.
