Salesman suggested that I buy a conditioner for the top to my new Passion Cabriolet. Went to a auto supply store to purchase, and their sales person told me that it was not necessary for a new car, and to wait a year or so to see how the top is affectedd by the weather. Manual does not address this issue. Has anyone else treated their top soon after purchase
Turtle wax do a good kit as well, a cleaner and a conditioner, I can recommend it as my smart is nearly 5 years old and the roof looks like new using this kit.

ps only needed to do the roof after 4 years, so I would wait a bit before buying
I bought and applied the 303 fabric convertible kit from autogeek.com
I poured it in a bowl and applied it with a paint brush to the top and sides. Spraying it was too hard not to get on the paint.
It works great, the water always beads right off of it and it has a UV protectant.
