I don't think I'm getting as good millage, but I've run the a/c some and have had a rather large passenger some of the time. I'm planning on running this tank as close to empty as I dare get, then trying a serious study.
I've been driving exclusively in Auto mode. No A/C, yet.

MPG

I just got an easy 45mpg on a tank in commuter stop and go. Used paddles to shift. Next week or when it gets here I will put on my BP center exit exhaust and hopefully do a comparison.

Some very impressive figures there! I've so far averaged 42.5 mpg over 1800 miles of driving, not quite so good as you guys, but on the other hand I do have a brutal afternoon commute on LA freeways (or sometimes off the freeways because they're just too clogged!)

One observation drawn from my experiences... I sometimes seem to get an encouragingly good figure off an individual tank (eg 48), only to discover that my next tank does less well than average (maybe 38) - the first bar disappears oddly soon on the fuel gauge. What I suspect is happening here is that different fillups will shut off at varying levels of 'fullness' of the tank... different pump, different shutoff detector, different angle of the nozzle, what you had for breakfast that day, etc.

I find it's helpful to keep track of the average as well as the individual tanks... this is easy to do with a spreadsheet program.

Now to work on my 50mpg... :-)

Can anyone tell me what the engine drain plug size is? and the transmission oil drain plug size is? No dealer knows, that I talked to , but they will order me one for $16.43 and the gasket for $4.73 . I am glad I am not looking for more high tech information!

If anyone knows I would appreciate it. Joe

Interesting. How well-controlled was the test on which you're basing your observation? What weight Amsoil did you use?

Also, does anyone know the weight of the factory oil supplied?

I'm not Joe but I did switch to Amsoil. Personally I don't think it being Amsoil had a lot to do with it - I do go to 5W-30 whereas I "think" the factory weight was 5W-40. My oil was changed at exactly 2k - driving habits/methods stayed the same but mileage did go up. I didn't do the math but I'd guesstimate it to be around a 5% gain. My records could tell exact.
