I have a 2005 Smart Mercedes .7L. I absolutely love this car. I have not been excited about a car since I had my 66 SS Chevelle. At the price of gas, I would have probably lost my enthusiasm for the Chevelle. Anyway, just recently, after I left a stop light, the car kept sputtering gas on gas off when I was trying to go. Only when I put it to the floor would it go. When I backed off the throttle it would do it again. Then the problem would clear, then it would do it again. In my Tractor Trailer (all computer controls) the accelerator pedal has a throttle position sensor with sends info the the ECM which in turn makes the truck go. I had a throttle position sensor go bad and the symptoms where very similar. With the lack of service manuals or even anyone locally who has a clue of what to do with a car of this rare caliber I am truly perplexed. I have a great deal of wrenching ability but with the complex computer/sensor parts of today it is imperative to have some kind of manual to guide you through. Has anyone experienced this problem and solved it?
