We don't know how robust this system is for starters - disconnecting it is not the problem, connecting it back is. Everything else interfacing with the SAM is a momentary push switch running across the CANbus at a low voltage and current on inputs designed to be switched. We're talking about a line level fuse here, with potentially up to X amps (not sure how many the fuse is)... that's going to be a lot harder on the SAM than a triggered signal crossing it to flip on and off.

The SAM was what holds all the fuses and is designed to channel amps upon amps to the places where intelligent energy is needed. Even if the SAM drives a circuit hard, having a switch which interrupts that circuit shouldn't drive anything crazy. A debounce is nonsensical in this application. If the discussion were about having replacing a switch that interfaces to the SAM as a switch only to notify the SAM of the switch event, the SAM would control the debounce, not the switch.

If the system were sensitive to having a load connected, it would be as sensitive to having the load disconnected.

The switch I want to put in for the TCS will only be used in the event of emergency. such as, being stuck in the snow. if you turn it off when the key is off, I see no problem.

What nonsense!

Digger is right, and I plan the same fix for the traction control.

It all has to with load and spikes. If the load is not inductive there is little danger, all this line looks at is a solid state switch.

If in doubt, turn off the key, make the switch, then restart. A2Jack.
